Thanks for joining us!  I’m so happy to share with you, some thoughts from our past year.

Our Vancouver Cursillo movement has been blessed with an enthusiastic team of Secretariat members. I am especially grateful for: our ‘techno savvy’ members who work hard to enhance ways of communicating to a wider Cursillo community, including a new website; and Marna, for her great work coordinating Ultreyas & School of Leaders; Sidney for his devotion to passing along our prayer requests; and Fr. Mark McGuckin, for his gracious guidance, enthusiasm, and encouragement.

As soon as the pandemic affected gatherings in person, I contacted a Cursillista in Mallorca, whose wisdom I respect, as he journeyed with Eduardo, many years, in a personal friendship.  With having plans for a men’s Cursillo weekend, underway, I asked if and how a 3- Day Weekend could happen.   He said “Absolutely not now!  This is a time of pre-Cursillo, which means a time for making and being a friend. To live in the charism that was given by the Holy Spirit, to Eduardo for the benefit of others, through the Cursillo Movement.”   By our Baptism and Confirmation, we are appointed to live by the grace and call to be disciples, as the foundational charism of Cursillo offers us.

Our prayer for the Cursillo Movement is not to focus our efforts on how many 3 Day Weekends we can have, but to provide a safe and nurturing environment, that encourages a Cursillista, that is YOU, to: encounter Christ; encounter Christ within yourself; and encounter Christ in others.

The 4th day of Cursillo, which is Ultreya, School of Leaders and group reunion, facilitates that growth, through the inspiration of hearing others give witness to their walk with    Christ and allowing you to share your own story.

It is an exciting time for Cursillo, as we are privileged to witness the process toward the beatification of our beloved Eduardo Bonnin. His writings, which are so inspired by the Holy Spirit, are a great source of wisdom, guidance and hope for our calling as disciples.  I encourage you to read from the many topics he wrote about.  We have all been blessed by the writings of the saints.  Eduardo’s writings are as precious now, as they will be on the day of his canonization. Please have a look at info about Eduardo’s cause for beatification on our website.

I thank God for the good work He is doing in and through you.    God bless you!

De Colores,   Catherine Bowen
